Being pregnant is an extraordinary experience. But having photos to look back on, to recall those exact emotions and feelings? Even better.
A couple of weeks ago, Alex and I were lucky enough to have Nikki McFadden shoot us in a casual lifestyle shoot. The result? Memories we will cherish, long after Sophie is born and this pregnancy fades from memory…
Sometimes photographs do what words cannot. As I revealed my pregnancy “bump” for the first time, seven months in, I felt a beauty and strength I haven’t previously discovered.
My body, always used for strength training and sculpting and training people in the past, is now developing a human. Its strength is still evident, but it is internal.
Only I can feel the way my daughter moves, how her limbs roll from side to side, how she grows with each passing day, how my hands clasp protectively in large crowds to protect her.
Only I can feel the weight of her, when she shifts, when she falls asleep, when she bows up on one side, and my belly turns into a misshapen cone.
It is all magical; it is all-consuming; it is all here, captured, to look back upon, to share, to remember… for all the days we have.
Even when we are no longer here.
Um, beyond gorgeous. Seriously. What a PERFECT love story!!
Thank you so much!
I remember when my wife was 7 months pregnant. I thought she looked the most beautiful she’d ever looked. I regret that we didn’t get photos. These are truly, truly stunning. Such an amazing way to do it from the brushing your teeth with your husband to the classy nudes. Your daughter will love looking at these one day!
I appreciate it, David. I can’t wait to share these with Sophie. I think pregnant women are the most beautiful creatures… I’m sure your wife looked stunning!
LOVE. Beyond love. My favorites are the nudes. There’s something so stunning about a pregnant woman. It’s the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen! Your photographer is AMAZING!
Thank you! Those are my favorites too! I know it’s weird to put nudes “out there,” but I think pregnant nudes are just magical… my photographer, Nikki McFadden, is the best! She has such a great eye. Thank you for such nice words!
you look so beautiful and happy! SO excited for you girl!
Amanda! Thank you so very much!!!! How ARE you??
1.) You do not look like you have gained ANY weight. AT ALL.
2.) Your belly is like a miniature watermelon. I want to paint it as such.
3.) You have the prettiest eyes.
4.) Alex’s tat turned out mega ultra super rad.
5.) We miss you kids. xx
1. As of today, I have gained 19 pounds!
But thank you.
2. You can definitely paint the watermelon. Though it is growing daily…
3. Thank you. YOU win the pretty eye competition. Yours are absolutely stunning. One of the first things I ever noticed about you!
4. Alex has one more session and then the tat will be done! It will be even more colorful. Very excited. I love the colors in these photos though.
5. We miss YOU guys!!! We can’t wait to see you and catch up. I am dreaming of a beer in London and strolling through museums. It will be like Christmas everyday we get to be there!
